The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA), which operates the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) on Grand Cayman and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (CKIA) on Cayman Brac, will be conducting a full-scale “emergency” exercise at Charles Kirkconnell International Airport on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, in partnership with emergency response agencies to test the preparedness of emergency first responders in the event of a real-life airport or aircraft emergency.
To comply with International Standards, the CIAA stages a full-scale emergency exercise at both the Owen Roberts International Airport on Grand Cayman and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport on Cayman Brac every two years in order to test the ability of airport staff and emergency response agencies to work together to form an organised response to save lives and limit damage to property.
The public is advised to avoid the Airport and surrounding roads as there will be a short interruption of traffic. Early morning traffic will not be impacted, and any disturbance to the public will be kept to a minimum.
